The robust tower with the spire is visible from afar. The first house of God dates back to 1225. When the population quickly increases in the 14th century, the current hall church is built. In the 18th century, the impoverished Damme can no longer afford the repairs to the dilapidated Our Lady's Church. Part of the nave, the transept, and the tower spire were demolished (1725-1727). The arched arcade of the central aisle has been preserved as a support for the tower.
From the 43-meter-high tower, one has a unique panorama. Both the church and the tower are open to visitors.
