Welcome to the home of the kings of France! The Château de Fontainebleau is marked by eight centuries of sovereign presence - Philippe IV le Bel, Henri IV, François I and Napoleon I - from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981, the castle is an architectural jewel and houses remarkable furniture. The horseshoe-shaped staircase, the Chinese museum and the Grand Parterre by André Le Nôtre are among its masterpieces.
