Background:
The church was consecrated in 873 by Sigebod, archbishop of Narbonne, and in the presence of Golferic abbot of the monastery of Saint Jacques de Joco, and of the counts Guifred the Hairy, Miro I, Oliba II and Acfred of Carcassonne Rasès who had built the church.
It was consecrated again in 1019, after an enlargement by the archbishop of Narbonne Guifred.
