With its spires piercing the sky at over 75 metres, it is often mistaken for the cathedral. Founded in the 11th century, this abbey was one of the richest of the Middle Ages. All that remains of the building is its elegant façade, but the monks' refectory, cloister and outbuildings are still intact. The Centre d'Interprétation de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine (Architecture and Heritage Interpretation Centre) is housed in the Abbot's former dwelling, which has been fully restored. A translucent model of the Saint-Jean-des-Vignes abbey, with a beautiful decorative effect, is surrounded by explanatory panels providing the keys to understanding the town and its heritage.

A new feature of the tour is the opportunity to enter the newly restored outer turret.
