The Château de la Porte Mars is a former residence of the archbishops of the French city of Reims. The date of the beginning of construction is not precisely known to date, the first fortifications could have been put in place as early as 1170 but the date of 1228 is more commonly retained. Prosper Tarbé dates the first construction of this castle or a previous building around 922-927. It is Henri de Braine, then archbishop of Reims who launches the construction of this castle, it then includes the Roman triumphal arch already present in the rampart since the construction of the enclosure in the fourth century. It was then one of the great fortresses of the north-east of the France.
