The church is very remarkable; It belongs to the transition from Romanesque to Gothic and has the shape of a Greek cross, as wide as it is long. Eight elegant turrets give it the appearance of a castle. Its portal is decorated with beautiful Gothic sculptures. The spire that rose on the building, was destroyed in 1574. Authors assume that this church was built by the Templars and that another parish church, long since destroyed, stood in the middle of the city.
