Nuclear power plants are often built out of sight, at the borders of countries. Where the population density is not so high. This is convenient, especially if something is about to go wrong with those nuclear power plants, as the damage is then mainly borne by the neighbors. The placement of the nuclear power plant in Chooz in the French Ardennes is particularly flagrant. It is located near Givet at the tip of the French protrusion, which penetrates deep into Belgian territory. In the event of a nuclear disaster in Chooz, it is primarily the nearby Belgians who will bear the brunt.
