Named "The Flame of Liberty", this exact replica of the torch of the Statue of Liberty in New York was offered to France by the United States in 1987, to celebrate the friendship between the two nations. Inaugurated above the Alma bridge in 1989, it was turned into a commemorative stele for Princess Diana, following her death on August 31, 1997.
