The town of Sault is located on a rocky spur of the 'plateau de Vaucluse' and overlooks the valley of the Nesque. It is the ideal starting point for trips and walks to Mont Ventoux, the Gorges de la Nesque, the Valley of the Toulourenc, the Albion plateau, the Lubéron and other nearby natural areas in the Drôme Provençal and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. In the subsoil of the high plateau there are also some caves so that speleologists get their money's worth.
The surrounding lavender fields are interspersed here and there with a cornfield and form a beautiful whole. Sault and its surroundings are one of six French landscapes protected by UNESCO.
