Affectionately known as "La Grosse Madeleine" for its squat silhouette, the church, whose construction began in 1675, draws its originality from its centered plan topped by a dome, unique in the religious panorama of Lille and rare for the region.
The church is circular in plan, with the porch topped by the organ loft, the richly decorated choir and two side chapels. Its dome rises to a height of 55 meters, overlooking the Old Lille district.
Since 2000, the church has been desacralized and now hosts a variety of artistic and cultural events for the general public.
