MUSÉE RAYMOND POINCARÉ

Description

The departmental museum is located on the ground floor of the former summer residence of Raymond Poincaré, built between 1906 and 1913 in a neo-Louis XIII style by the Nancy architect Bourgon.
Born in Bar-le-Duc in 1860, Raymond Poincaré was 6 times Minister and President of the Republic from 1913 to 1920.
The museum evokes the rise of this politician, jurist and man of letters who had a profound impact on history.
No guided tour. Schoolchildren welcome on request.

You can visit the Jardin du Clos Poincaré (Chemin rural de la Tuilerie - Castel néo-Louis XIII). Raymond Poincaré's Meuse residence has a terraced garden overlooking the Meuse valley, with its Italian-style flower beds, picturesque rock garden, the essence of the Ecole de Nancy and rose garden.
A heritage signage on 10 metal pedestal tables brings to life the atmosphere of the garden from the time of Raymond Poincaré to the present day. Temporary exhibitions on local history and the Poincaré period.

The museum is open for groups, all year round, on request.
