In 1891, the industrialist Edouard Jaunez became the owner of the castle for the sum of 41,000 francs. He chose to transform it into a real modern castle. Edouard Jaunez was ennobled by Emperor William II on 13 May 1904, received on 13 May 1905. In 1912, the administration of the railways of Alsace and Lorraine acquired the castle and ordered its demolition in order to enlarge the marshalling yard. On 11 June 1982, the Town Council decided to acquire it for the sum of 350,000 francs in order to conserve this heritage and to renovate it to accommodate municipal services. Thus, the town hall was transferred there in December 1996.
