The oak stands at the entrance of the forest as a valiant guardian. The legend says it is more than 850 years old. It would have been the place of night meetings of the witches. Its name would date from the great era of witchcraft that followed the plague of 1505. Another legend indicates that in 1180, the emperor Frederick Barbarossa, during a hunt, would have planted his spear in the trunk to fix the place of the stop for lunch. A mystical place, the oak is classified as a remarkable tree of France.
