Ferme Peotenia - Balade avec un berger à Iraty

In the heart of the Basque mountains, 30 minutes from St Jean Pied de Port, on the site of Iraty, come and discover the job of a shepherd. Jean-Michel, from a family of shepherds, will make you discover his job and the mountains of Iraty.
A walk of about 1h30 with 300 m of positive difference in altitude will allow you to join the herd, then J-Michel will explain to you the way each one will position himself to make the herd go down towards the coral. You will be able to take part in the counting and to follow closely the care of the ewes. Finally, the group will meet at the etxola for an aperitif, and share a meal based on farm and local products (pâté, charcuterie, Irouleguy wine, Taloak, AOC Ossau-Iraty cheese, Basque cake and coffee). Keep an excellent memory of an authentic walk to discover the world of the estive. Be well-shod.
