Come and discover the world of Basque pelota at the Plaza Berri in the town centre.
This emblematic fronton of Basque pelota in Biarritz and in France was built in 1931 by Mrs Boutineau and her son Paul and inaugurated on 1 January 1932. In 1974 Plaza Berri became municipal and it is Biarritztarrak (local club of Basque Pelota) which makes live the fronton with its school of Pelota, its sections, the organization of high level tournaments in the 4 and a half, in Pala Corta and throughout the summer season by giving an authentic image of the Basque Pelota
Plaza Berri is a "Sporting and Cultural Monument", but also an architectural one with its beautiful oak stands, which enriches the heritage of Biarritz with an establishment with a rich historical past but with a promising future for Basque Pelota.
