The hospital was founded in 1237 by Brother Robert, a religious of the Hospitaller Order of the Holy Spirit who came from Rome and who, until the Revolution, welcomed the poor, the sick and the widowed by the Sisters of Neufchâteau.
Of this medieval hospital foundation, the only one in the Vosges, only the Chapel remains, reworked and enlarged.
It was a property of the hospital until 1998 before it became the property of the town.
