Founded by Stanislas in the 18th century, the present building was built between 1770 and 1778. The superb 18th century woodwork in the reading room comes from the former Jesuit University of Pont-à-Mousson
The Stanislas Library is part of the network of Libraries of Nancy, alongside the Manufacture Media Library, the Haut-du-Lièvre Media Library and the Saint-Pierre Media Library and Town Hall. One of its main missions is the collection, enhancement and conservation of documents from Lorraine.
