Built on the sources of the Barse River, the first stones of the Vendeuvre-sur-Barse castle were laid in the 12th century. The building retains only a few traces of its original appearance, as its architecture underwent numerous modifications over the centuries, until the 19th century when Guillaume Gabriel Pavée de Vendeuvre redesigned it and gave it its current appearance. Many illustrious people have stayed there, such as the Luxembourg family, governors of Champagne, and even Louis XIII. The castle has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1981, and its park, where many events take place throughout the year, is included in the General Inventory of Cultural Heritage. The castle is closed to the public. Self-guided tour of the castle grounds.
