Underground galleries dug into the rock supporting the town, during stone extraction work in the 18th - 19th centuries. At the beginning of the 20th century, the entrances to these quarries were redeveloped into a place of pleasure called the "Guinguette des Grottes" and a neo-Medieval-style esplanade was annexed to it. Except for exceptional events, the place is closed to the public for security reasons.
