This ancient forest occupies a 300-hectare massif that dominates the Lorraine plateau. The Sensitive Natural Area of the Ranzey forest and its old trees is a favourable playground for specific bird populations, such as the Ring-necked Gobemouche, as well as for a dozen varieties of bats, i.e. half of the species known in Lorraine.
