An ancient place of pilgrimage to the Virgin Mary, which would have been founded by a Duke of Burgundy, who would have been lost in the woods on his way to Compostela, hence the name Bergounhoux. The success of this place of devotion was considerable: in 1524 there was there the most important brotherhood of the diocese, it is said. The Vezins who protected the place maintained it: in 1431 Vezian de Vezins had a chapel built containing a Piéta from the early 16th century.
