Description

The square owes its name to the presence of the former customs house Koifhus from the 15th century.

The Schwendi Fountain (1898) is located in the center of the square and is topped by a Bartholdi statue of General Schwendi (1522-1583). According to a persistent but false legend, he is said to have introduced the Tokay grape variety to Alsace.
