The castle is located in the municipality of Giry, situated in the Nièvre department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. It is built on the hillside overlooking the valley of the Nièvre d'Arzembouy. The Giry castle is an old fortified house in an elongated plan with four round towers at the corners pierced with arrow slits, connected by curtain walls, and defended by a fortified gate. The grooves that housed the arms of the drawbridge can be distinguished.
