A vast oak forest of more than 660 ha, the state forest of Mareuil, near Chauvigny, is managed sustainably by the Office National des Forêts.
In addition to the production of timber and the protection of biodiversity, welcoming the public is one of the functions of the forest: there are 4 public reception areas equipped with tables, information panels and parking lots. Three marked trails also allow visitors to discover the forest in a fun or sporty way thanks to the educational discovery trail, the sport trail and the mountain bike trail.
