Located on the Belette conch, the communal port of Vanneau, restored as part of the Grand Travaux du Marais poitevin, was once intended for farmers to ensure the exploitation of their marsh plots. It was forbidden to store crops more than 24 hours on the wharf so as not to interfere with the movement of boats and carts. On the last Saturday of July, is organized the "Market on water" where the products of individuals and traders are sold to more than 15.000 visitors! This festive event reflects one of the most unique market gardening traditions: the transport of people, animals and goods on the wet roads forming the "Green Venice". In its extension, a steel footbridge from 1900 makes it possible to go to family gardens. Between Rue de la Belette and the waterway, there are old farms with double access.
