Magnificent views over the Lot valley and the hilltop village. Take advantage of your visit to the village of St-Cirq-Lapopie to discover the "geology in the landscape" and the reasons why people settled on this remarkable site. Over the last million years, the Lot river has sunk, gradually carving out its valley and clearing the rocky outcrop of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie.
Water "perched" in the village! As the limestone gradually eroded, it was dissolved, and the residual sand, cemented together by the water, formed perched pools of water
. In the past, each house in the village had its own well.
