This lime kiln was built in 1880 by Léon Boisseau, mayor of the commune of Jazeneuil. The place was bought by François Mazin in 1921 and remains today the property of the family. The last heating took place in 1952. Invaded by vegetation for 50 years, it has been under constant restoration since the early 2000s.
The lime kiln is leaning against a cliff on two sides. The front face is made of limestone rubble. The interior is made of refractory bricks. Next to it, in an old limestone quarry, the visitor will discover a natural cave.
Explanatory panels tell the story of the kiln and the process of making lime for agricultural use.
