The Roman road Reims-Trèves, built in 45 BC under Emperor Claudius, ran through this area. On the edge of this road, the Romans had set up a relay station to welcome soldiers and travellers. This place has been the subject of scientific excavations and didactic panels have been installed to explain to walkers the life in this place during the Roman period. Also worth seeing, a stone's throw from Chameleux, the picturesque French village of Wiliers, built on a spur crossed by a wall, probably built in Celtic or Roman times.
