The Musée de la Broderie de Fontenoy-le-Château (Embroidery Museum, Fontenoy-le-Château, France) bears witness to the exceptional skills of its embroiderers, who have remained completely anonymous. For almost 150 years, thousands of women, mostly from metalworking families, worked to adorn the ladies of international high society. In this unique museum, in addition to rare pieces, you can admire a temporary exhibition dedicated to the reconstitution of an embroidery office, as run by Julie-Victoire Daubié.
Visitors will be able to grasp the stages in the production of Fontenoy-le-Château embroideries, and the vital role played by these anonymous embroiderers who imposed their exceptional skills on the international luxury market; the many objects on display will bear witness to their talent.
