The cantonal court was built on the site of a house that served as the registry of the Episcopal bailiwick of Marckolsheim until the Revolution, then the boys' school from 1806 to 1857. This building houses the Justice of the Peace's office and the praetorium, previously located in the Town Hall. The legal building, built in freestone, has a balcony surrounded by two pilasters with leafy capitals, heads of cherubs and crowned by a pediment. At the back of the court is the building of the former prison, built at the same time in the mid-19th century.
