Classified as a historic monument in 1963. History has it that Pepin the Short was buried beneath the original church. The pre-Romanesque crypt is a magnificent example of Carolingian architecture. The site is open all year round, on request from the Vireux-Wallerand tourist office - place du château. Please note: Val d'Ardenne tourist office opening hours: April to September: Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm; October to March: Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm.
