The village is home to 964 "Mazurois". The village dates back to the end of the 11th century. In feudal times, it belonged to the fiefdom of the lord of Montcornet. Saint-Rémi church was last rebuilt in 1793, at which time the bell tower featured 4 small spires that have now disappeared. Founded in 1228, the Cistercian abbey of Les Mazures has long been a place of pilgrimage. Water plays an important role in the life of the commune. There are 7 wash-houses and fountains.
