Square Jorrand takes its name from Paul Jorrand, a doctor from Guérande who owned a house in rue du Prat, close to the square, which was named after him in 1941. Paul Jorrand studied at the Collège de Felletin, then at the Faculté de Médecine in Paris, where he obtained his doctorate in 1909. He began his career as a mine doctor in Liévin, before moving to Guéret after the First World War of 1914-1918.
