This area of wet meadows covers 737 hectares in the French Nied riverbed, including areas of salt meadows and an alkaline peat bog. At the bottom of the valley layers of salt alternate with layers of marl or percole water, forming a halophilic alluvial valley. These very rare salt meadows are home to the dubious Céraiste and Troscart maritime (protected plant species).
