Located on the Place du Souvenir on the banks of the Moselle, it was the first monument to the dead in Meurthe-et-Moselle, erected in memory of the civilian and military victims of the First and Second World Wars.
Financed by local subscription, it was inaugurated on October 9, 1919 in the presence of Louis Marin, and erected by Etienne, marble masons in Marbache. In 2009, 2 plaques were affixed, one in memory of the soldiers who died in the colonial wars and another commemorating the Millery volunteers who left to defend "La Patrie en Danger" in 1793 and 1794.
