The parish church of Eguelshardt, built of pink sandstone ashlars, stands on a slight hill visible from the departmental road linking Bitche to Niederbronn-les-Bains
Dedicated to the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, it was built between 1854 and 1858 according to the plans of the Messinian architect Charles Gautiez, by the contractor Jean-Dominique Bourguignon de Landroff. It replaced a chapel in the cemetery that had become insufficient for the population
It is in neo-gothic basilica style, with a transept and polygonal choir. Under its bell tower, proudly measuring twenty-eight metres, housing three bells weighing a total of 963 kilos, is the consecration plaque, written in Latin.
