The Saint-Georges-de-rex Laundromat is a journey through time reminiscent of the convivial places where the village’s women met exclusively to rinse their clothes and chat.
Behind the church, in the street of the same name, the wash house of the Panification, restored in 1993 as part of the Great Works of the Marais Poitevin, is powered by a source and consists of a polygonal open pit to adapt to the site configuration, a washroom sidewalk sheltered by a shed roof. Its name is due to a former dairy cooperative located nearby (use of milk in bread making instead of water, thus bringing more richness to the products, colours the crust while making it melting, participates in the mellow of the crumb and activates the fermentation thanks to the sugars it contains).
