The fortified church of Saint-Médard de Prisces dates from the 12th century (nave and choir). Initially built in white stone, it was endowed in the 16th century with an imposing square keep in red and glazed bricks. Some of the cornices are decorated with modillions (human figures and animal heads). The keep, the highest in Thiérache, reaches 27 meters high, the equivalent of a 6-story building. Nestled a few meters below the building, don't miss the village washhouse. Almost every fortified church has one in its vicinity, so keep your eyes open!
