The Saint-Jean-Baptiste church is located in Ruaux, a small village in the commune of Plombières-les-Bains.
It is classified as a "barn church", a type of construction common in 18th-century Lorraine. The church is one of the few surviving examples of the use of sandstone or "laves" as a roofing material in religious buildings. This technique was mainly used from the second half of the 18th to the 19th century.
The building was restored in 1985.
