Henri-Jules de Bourbon-Condé (1643-1709) carried out the last wishes of his father Louis II de Bourbon-Condé and began construction of the first parish church in Chantilly in 1687, based on a plan by Jules Hardouin Mansart. Completed in 1691, the church was consecrated in March 1692 under the title of "Notre-Dame de l'Assomption". This date marks the official founding act of the city of Chantilly. From this date on, the parish registers kept by the parish priest listed the baptisms, marriages and burials.
