Owned by Louis Amour, brother of the mayor of Donchery, this 19th century castle was the place where, on 2 September 1870, the Emperor had to wait for King William, but Bismarck, fearing a kind of self-pity on his part, demanded that the capitulation be signed before his arrival. It was signed at 11 o'clock in the presence of General de Wimpffen. The King of Prussia did not come to Bellevue until around two o'clock in the afternoon and had a quarter-hour meeting with Napoleon, during which the Emperor told him that he had never wanted this war and that William I later revealed that they were "both very moved".
