Small fountain with a basin decorated with two masks spitting water and above it a statue of a child pouring water from a jug.

On the plate: Alfred BOUCHER / (Bouy-sur-Orvin (Aube) 1850 - Aix-les-Bains 1934) / The Child at the Fountain / 1874 / Bronze print after a plaster cast from the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Troyes.

Alfred Boucher , born in 1850 in Nogent-sur-Seine, was the founder of La Ruche in Montparnasse , which welcomed artists such as Léger, Modigliani, Soutrine and Chagall. He was also Camille Claudel's first teacher. He died in 1934 in Aix-les-Bains and is buried in the cemetery of Nogent-sur-Seine. Many of his works can be seen in the Camille Claudel Museum in Nogent-sur-Seine.
