This propeller is in honor of its inventor Frédéric Sauvage.
The French engineer Frédéric Sauvage tested the propeller drive in 1832 on a barge on the Ourcq.
On January 15, 1832, in Honfleur, in the old dock and with a small boat, he proved in a public experiment that propeller propulsion was three times faster than paddle propulsion.
He can be considered one of the inventors of screw propulsion applied to boats.
