Fountain "The Three Graces" - Bergues

The fountain was probably made at the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century .

The sculpted group that makes up this monumental fountain is a cast-iron copy of the famous funerary monument for the heart of Henri II by the sculptors Germain Pilon (the sculpted group itself) and Dominique Florentin (the plinth), which was intended to be placed in the church of the Célestins Monastery in Paris and ended up in the Louvre Museum during the Restoration.

The symbolism of the Three Graces goes back to mythology . The poet Hesiod describes three goddesses: Aglaia (representing splendor), Euphrosyne (joy) and Thalia (abundance). Together they represent an ideal of beauty.
