The statue, created by Toulouse sculptor Sébastien Langloÿs , was unveiled in January 2021 on Place Louis-Blanc.
The plinth is made of Tavel stone (from the Gard). The bronze statue shows Mistral wearing a hat, in a contemplative pose, with a stick in one hand – representing wisdom and leadership.
Frédéric Mistral was a famous Provençal poet, lexicographer and founder of the Félibrige movement and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1904.
