The capital of Haut-Doubs in the Franche-Comté region is Pontarlier. It has two exceptional assets: the absinthe distilleries and an 8000 m² automobile museum. Until the prohibition in 1915, Pontarlier was the capital of absinthe, a bitter liqueur distilled from wormwood that consists of nearly 75% alcohol. The Musée Sbarro is named after Franco Sbarro, an Italian car manufacturer and designer who created reconstructions and extravagant prototypes of his own designs in his Ateliers de Construction Automobile (ACA) in Grandson, Switzerland, near Lake Neuchatel.
