After crossing Carros, go up to Carros-village (the medieval village of Carros), which is definitely worth a visit (the route also goes there). The first 2.5 km are quite difficult in terms of climbing. After passing through the village of Cros, you stand and drive through an area around the Esteron River with low traffic roads that are densely wooded, rocky and have beautiful mountain villages. On this itinerary, you will visit the villages of Roquesteron, Sigale, Ascros, Tourette-du-Château and Bonson. You will pass the rocky gorges of Clue de Riolan. You climb the Côte de Saint Antonin, then follow a high back for a distance of about 15 km. However, in between, it sometimes goes up and down. This route partly follows the cycle path of the Grand Tour des Préalpes d'Azur (a 265 km bike ride through the Pre-Alps). You descend from about 1100 meters above sea level to 600 meters above sea level and pass the village of Bonson (with beautiful views of the Var valley). Then you descend further to the valley of the Var River. You then cycle along the cycle path along the main road west of the Var to Carros (if flat to slightly downhill).
