The climb to the Col de Croix de Fer from Barrage du Verney is a cycling classic. The pass has featured in the Tour de France more than sixteen times since it was first passed in the 1947 tour when the race was led over the summit by Fermo Camellini. This climb is 27.5km and brings you to a height of 2067m. The average slope is 4.7%. The maximum slope is 11%.
