Céreste-en-Luberon - Mirabeau

A pleasant cycle ride that takes you over the ridge of Le Grand Luberon and through the Pays d'Aigues, which extends between the Durance valley in the south and Le Luberon in the north. The ride starts with the climb of the Col de l'Aire Dei Masco over the first 8 kilometers, a pleasant and very regular climb on a quiet and good road. After the pass there is a descent to Vitrolles-en-Luberon through a beautiful wooded area on the southern flank of Le Grand Luberon. It continues downhill through vineyards and fields until you reach Grambois, a beautiful town located on a ridge on the left bank of the river l'Éze. From Grambois it goes uphill again among the Mediterranean pines and then descends to Mirabeau, which, like Grambois, is located at a height above the valley. From Mirabeau the route heads northeast to beautiful Beaumont-de-Pertuis and continues towards Pierrevert between fields and vineyards. Before ending up on the D6 (km 42) there is a stretch of bad road of about 1 km. The route now follows the D6 and D907 to cycle towards Villemus. Both are busy and are best avoided on weekdays. Via Villemus, another cute village albeit with roads in bad shape, it goes to Reillanne and from Reillanne via the narrow and almost traffic-free agricultural roads back to Céreste. An alternative for the D6 and D907 is to take the narrow road via Montfuron from the hamlet of L'Orée du Golf (km 47.3). However, its quality is very bad. Moreover, it is very steep in places.
