Close to Paris, the listed town of La Ferté-Milon is set on a hill overlooking the Ourcq, the starting point for an encounter with the rivers and canals of the Valois, the Omois and the Orxois: a route that mixes the memory of Racine, the life of the boatmen, the charm of the old paddle mills and the glorious remains of commanderies, abbeys and castles. From the immense facade built by the Duke of Orléans in La Ferté-Milon to the small Clignon canal with a miniature canal bridge, the route wavers between water and forest, lively villages and places of meditation, such as the Abbey of Cerfroid.
